Jon Stewart had his hands full...

I caught a few minutes of the Oscars - really just curious how Jon Stewart would go over. Well, I found out. Even though Hollywood many be considered "liberal" - a potentially friendly audience, they don't like being the short end of a joke. And they were repeatedly during the opening monologue. Ouch. I guess he won't be invited back. Stick with the political humor, and make sure you don't invite those you are joking about to the studio Jon, and we'll all have a lot more fun. Too bad, Hollywood needs to laugh at themselves just as much as our politicians, and JonS can put on a great show with the right audience.

HDTV for the masses?

After struggling to remember my actual login, I am now finally back! Random thoughts on HDTV - nice! I am watching the Olympics in HD, and it looks terrific! Too bad the "HD" channel number scheme over cable is so funky. Channle 33.1 for the analog channel 3. Huh? 99.3 for the analog 9? OK, I get it...kind of. I did get a TV w/ built-in cable HD tuners, so at least no boxes if all I care about is OTA broadcasts. Still baffled at how the US public will be convinced to convert to all HD in only a few years...
